Phlegm Fatales (Rob Clarke - vocals/guitar/synth, James Gardner - bass, Chazz Hartley - drums/vocals)
The Phlegm Fatales are a three-piece rock 'n' roll/punk band from Preston, Lancashire. They are comprised of Rob Clarke on guitar and lead vocals, Chazz Hartley on drums and vocals, and James Gardner on bass. The band formed in Spring 2004, and after settling on the name, set about working towards their first gig, which was at The Mitre, Preston on July 9th 2004, supported by One Man Stand and Elcho in front of a full house. Since then the band has played with such luminaries as The UK Subs, The Vibrators, Deadline, Crashed Out and Gold Blade, as well as an aftershow party for skinhead heroes Sham 69. On top of this, there have been headlining shows all around the North-West of England, and gigs are in the pipeline for Newcastle, Birmingham and even Norway and Berlin! Musically, comparisons have been made to the Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, Nirvana, Mudhoney, The Sex Pistols, The Hives, The (International) Noise Conspiracy and even Dick Dale. They describe their music as "ultra-sharpcore rock 'n' roll" and have been described by others as "like a dog-fight with dynamite" and "fun and enjoyable and hard-hitting and smart", as well as gaining respect from John Robb of Gold Blade, and former member of The Specials Roddy Radiation amongst others.
